Packing a Well-Stocked Diaper Bag

The weather is warm, the sun is shining and it's time to pack up the baby and head outside. Packing a well-stocked diaper bag is key to a less-stressful trip with baby. Be ready for anything with this checklist.

___ Diapers: Take more than you think you'll need, as many as one for every hour of your outing. Better safe than sorry!
___ Small box or travel pack of wipes: These aren't just for baby, but for your hands, too.
___ A tube of barrier cream or diaper-rash cream
___ Several cloth diapers or other cloths for burping, spit-up, and other messes
___ An extra shirt, pants, and pair of socks for baby
___ An extra shirt for you
___ Baby sunblock
___ Baby's bottle, if she uses one -- to keep things sanitary, you might put the nipple in a plastic bag
___ At least one toy
___ A favorite comfort object
___ If baby is on solids, a container of baby food and a baby spoon, or else a container of snacks, such as cereal or crackers
___ A bib
___ Two extra pacifiers (if baby uses them) stored in a clean plastic bag
___ A cell phone for emergencies
___ An index card with your name, address, and phone number, should the bag get lost
___ An index card with the pediatrician's number, a neighbor's number, and a number where your spouse or one of baby's grandparents can be reached
___ A changing pad -- many diaper bags come with one
___ A few large plastic bags for sealing and tossing dirty diapers, or taking home soiled clothes
___ Water and a snack for you

It may seem like you are packing for a weeklong vacation, but trust me you will be well-prepared.

Angeline and Brad Welcome Baby Girl!

Actress Angelina Jolie gave birth last night (May 27, 2006) to a baby girl in Namibia, Africa with Brad Pitt at her side. They named their new baby Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt.
Jolie and Pitt had powerful help protecting their privacy from the government of Namibia, which refused to grant entry to reporters seeking to cover the birth without the actors' written permission. The government arrested photographers, confiscated film, ringed the couple's hotel with heavy security and set up large green barriers on the beach to shield their family.

The Daily Stroll and the Gosselin 6

The other day I received an email from Liz Sorensen (editor of The Daily Stroll). This is what she wrote:
"First there were 2 parents. They fell in love, they got married, they had twins- then sextuplets. Yes, 8 children under the age of 5. As seen on Mother's Day on Discovery Health Channel, meet the Six Gosselins, well plus Cara and Madelyn, and their parents, Kate and Jon. So really, meet the 10 Gosselins. I personally fell in love with their story and then go to thinking about how on earth Kate does this every day. The woman needs to get out of the house -but how can she push her 2 triplet strollers around herself? She can't, trust me. We chatted, Kate and I, and I found out that she dreams day and night about this ultra cool stroller called the Silver Bullet Runabout, by Berg Design. All six babies can get in at once and she can do something as simple as take them for a daily stroll (simple for you and me, not so much for her).Help The Daily Stroll make this happen for Kate and the Gosselin 6! And while we are on the subject of car seats..what is up with Britney Spear's and her refusal to properly restrain her infant son in one?
Front-page photographs in Tuesday's New York Post and New York Daily News depict the 24-year-old pregnant pop star driving her convertible Mini Cooper with 8-month-old son Sean Preston in the back, sitting in a car seat facing forward. The California vehicle code states that child safety-seats must be properly installed according to federal safety guidelines which recommend that babies up to a year old and up to 20 pounds ride in them in the back seat facing backward.
